Demonstrates knowledge of Virtua¿s service standards and values and incorporates them into the performance of duties. CRNAs work under the medical direction of staff anesthesiologists. The CRNA will participate in the pre-operative evaluation of the patient, selection of an appropriate anesthetic technique, the safe and efficient administration of such technique, the care of the patient in the immediate post-operative period while the patient is in the PACU: may perform anesthesia care and institute resuscitative procedures throughout the hospital.
Position Responsibilities:
Performs pre-anesthesia assessment by record, chart review and direct contact with patient and family
Prepares for surgical case management. Has equipment ready and in working condition to safely administer anesthesia. Uses universal safety precautions. Labels and properly stores syringes.
Prepares anesthetic management Develops and implements Anesthetic care plan with anesthesiologist. Recognizes patient difficulties. Communicates information clearly and logically with Attending. Displays knowledge of current anesthetic principles in selecting anesthetic techniques.
Demonstrates competence in managing general/regional/monitored anesthesia care, including interpretation and recording of patient¿s physiological status and the administration of appropriate pharmacological/fuild/ventilatory interventions as indicated.
Provides post anesthetic management including post anesthesia inpatient rounds. Completes all records timely, accurately and thoroughly. Evaluates and resolves patient pain status.
Performs pre-tests, calibrates and monitors anesthesia delivery systems
Attends anesthesia department staff meetings
Position Qualifications Required
Experience Required:
Required Education:
Graduate of accredited school of anesthesia and must be certified through examination
Training/Certifications/Licensure:
New graduates must take certifying exam within 90 days of their last training or graduation
Maintain certification through continuing medical education, ACLS, NJ license CRNA, APN license
Must meet all requirements and be credentialed through Virtua Medical Affairs Part time
